About CasCalc
CasCalc is a free online computer algebra system (CAS) and graphing calculator. It gives exact answers such as 2√2 or x = 2, x = 3, shows the decimal value next to them, and draws a graph of anything that depends on x. It runs entirely in your browser, with no sign-up.
Solving equations
Type an equation and press Enter. x^2 - 5x + 6 = 0 gives x = 2, x = 3, and the roots are marked on the graph. For a system, separate the equations with commas: x + y = 10, x - y = 4.
Simplify, expand and factor
Type an expression, then choose Simplify, Expand or Factor in the toolbar. For example, factoring x^2 - 9 gives (x - 3)(x + 3), and simplifying (x^3 - 1)/(x - 1) gives x^2 + x + 1.
Derivatives and integrals
Choose Derivative or Integral to differentiate or integrate with respect to x. For definite integrals write defint(x^2, 0, 1, x), and for limits write limit(sin(x)/x, x, 0).
Variables and functions
Store a value with a := 3 or define a function with f(x) := x*sin(x). Later lines can use them, and $3 reuses the result of line 3.
Graphing
CasCalc graphs functions (y = x^2 - 4), polar curves (r = 4cos(2θ)), parametric curves ((3cos(t), 2sin(t))), curves in x and y (x^2 + y^2 = 16) and shaded inequalities (y < x/2 - 5). Hover over or tap a curve to trace it. Zeros, maximums, minimums and intersections are marked so you can read them off exactly. The Table tab lists x and y values with any start and step you choose.
Step-by-step math guides
New to a topic? Read the math guides for worked explanations of quadratic equations, factoring, systems of equations, derivatives and integrals. Every example opens in the calculator with one click.
Can I use it on exams?
CasCalc is a study and homework tool. Standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT and AP exams set their own calculator rules, so check those before test day.
